THERE IS NO SOLUTION BECAUSE THERE IS NO PROBLEM.

The nostalgia of geometry for living form.

JeanBaudrillard.

Once we are immersed in the flow of Satzdenken (sentence-thought); we are ready after completing the thought of one sentence, to think out the `continuation´, also in the form of a sentence – and that is, in the form of a sentence that connects up with the sentence we have just thought through. In this way the process of reading goes effortlessly forward.

But if by chance the following sentence has no tangible connection whatever with the prior sentence, there then comes a blockage in the stream of thought. This hiatus is linked with a more or less active surprise, or with indignation. This blockage must be overcome if the reading is to flow once more.

For the exhibition There is no solution because there is no problem Thorbjørn Andersen is showing a string of works based upon spatial constructions of geometry. The methodological work is concerned with attaching the stringent, coherent logic of geometry to the unruly field of collage. Using the materiality of the location in UNIT 3B as an artistic platform, the work negotiates a space between physical reality and unconscious metaphor.

In an artistic device similar to distortion the painterly/sculptural interventions are aimed at baring our perceptive constructions through visual and spatial conflicts. The timeless designs are thus reflecting beautifully painted tonal harmonies with cut-ups and visual oddities in at times awkward combinations.

The installation comprised of a floor piece, a site-specific wall painting on the curved wall, an animation loop on screen and three framed octagonal reverse paintings on glass.
